India’s NHPC to develop 1,045-MW Kotli Bhel projects

India’s National Hydroelectric Power Corp. (NHPC) has signed implementation agreements for development of three hydroelectric projects totaling 1,045 MW in Uttaranchal State.

The projects are 195-MW Kotli Bhel 1A, 320-MW Kotli Bhel 1B, and 530-MW Kotli Bhel 2.

NHPC said agreements were signed June 8 by Principal N. Ravi Shanker of the Uttaranchal Power and Irrigation Department and NHPC Executive Director Ramesh Chandra.

The government-owned NHPC already is developer of the 120-MW Tanakpur and 280-MW Dhauliganga hydro projects in Uttaranchal, which supply India’s northern grid.
