Indonesia seeks construction of dams, powerhouse for 1,040-MW Upper Cisokan pumped-storage

Indonesia utility PT PLN Persero invites applications for pre-qualification to construct upper and lower dams, waterways, powerhouse, and switchyard of the 1,040-MW Upper Cisokan pumped-storage hydroelectric project. Responses are due December 16.

The government of Indonesia received a US$640 million loan from the World Bank to assist with development of Upper Cisokan on the Cisokan River, a tributary of the Citarum River in West Java. The bank recruited resettlement consultants while PT PLN sought engineering services for pre-construction and construction of the project in 2009.

Upper Cisokan is to have four 260-MW reversible Francis pump-turbines in an underground powerhouse, two roller-compacted-concrete dams impounding upper and lower reservoirs, and transmission lines connecting with the Java-Bali power system. In 2006, PT PLN awarded a US$1.35 million consulting contract to NEWJEC Inc. of Japan with Colenco Power Engineering Ltd., PT Hasfarm Dian, and PT Kwarsa Hexa.

The current solicitation invites pre-qualification for Lot 1A — Upper and Lower Dams, and Lot 1B — Waterways, Powerhouse, Switchyard, and Building Works. Firms may apply for one or both lots.

Pre-qualification documents may be obtained from the address below for 5 million rupiah or US$500. PT PLN’s bank is PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero), CabangUtamaMelawai Raya, Account PT PLN (Persero) No. 173-777-52, SWIFT Code BNINIDJA.

Applications for pre-qualification are due December 16.
