Indonesia utility seeks engineering for 1,040-MW Upper Cisokan

Indonesia utility PT PLN Persero invites expressions of interest in providing engineering services for pre-construction and construction of the 1,040-MW Upper Cisokan pumped-storage hydroelectric project. Responses are due February 23.

The government of Indonesia has applied for a US$600 million World Bank loan for Upper Cisokan and the 1,000-MW Matenggeng pumped-storage project. PT PLN plans to seek bids from builders, equipment suppliers, and consultants for Upper Cisokan. (HNN 11/10/08)

To be built on the Cisokan River, a tributary of the Citarum River in West Java, Upper Cisokan is to have four 260-MW reversible Francis pump-turbines in an underground powerhouse, two roller-compacted-concrete dams impounding upper and lower reservoirs, and transmission lines connecting with the Java-Bali power system. In 2006, PT PLN awarded a US$1.35 million consulting contract to NEWJEC Inc. of Japan with Colenco Power Engineering Ltd., PT Hasfarm Dian, and PT Kwarsa Hexa.

The current solicitation includes the pre-construction phase, from September 2009-December 2010, with review of detailed design, modification of bid documents, and assistance to PT PLN in bid preparation. It also includes the construction phase, from December 2010-December 2014, with design services and construction supervision.

Expressions of interest and qualifications are due to the address below by February 23.
