The Bureau of Reclamation has scheduled industry days for contractors interested in replacing generator step-up transformers and generators at 1,312-MW Glen Canyon Dam on the Colorado River. Participants were asked to register by Oct. 10 for the sessions Oct. 23 and 24.
Reclamation took bids in March for modernization of six elevators at Glen Canyon, near Page.
Reclamation said it is conducting two separate industry days “back to back” for two separate projects. The first, Oct. 23, is to discuss replacement of GSU transformers and associated equipment, including removal of existing equipment and supply and installation of three single-phase two-winding, 13.8-kilovolt to 230-kV 125-megavolt-ampere transformers and nine single-phase two-winding 13.8-kV to 345-kV 125-MVa transformers. Work also includes furnishing and placing in storage one each of the two types of transformer.
The second industry day, Oct. 24, is for rebuilding and rewinding of Glen Canyon generators G1, G3, G5, and G6.
Reclamation expects to issue solicitations for the work in December or January. The industry days are to help determine the availability and interest of qualified companies.
An industry day notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R12PS40038 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box. Participants were asked to register by close of business Oct. 10 by e-mail to email@example.com for the industry days at Carl V. Hayden Visitor’s Center Auditorium Glen Canyon Dam, 805 Bureau St., Page, AZ 86040-1477.
