Members of the hydroelectric power community will convene in May for the International Hydropower Association’s World Congress for discussions concerning hydropower development around the world.
The IHA World Congress is a biennial event which brings players in the hydropower industry together with policy and decision makers to discuss the global opportunities, challenges and issues facing hydroelectric developers, owners and operators.
This Congress — titled “Advancing Sustainable Hydropower” — runs May 21-24, 2013, in Sarawak, Malaysia, and includes four days of interactive sessions and discussions designed not only to be informative, IHA said, but to test current strategies and stimulate future thinking.
“Unlike other events, the Congress brings together key players who can influence the direction of hydropower and focuses on enlightening leadership on issues within the sector,” IHA said.
Spread across the IHA World Congress’ program schedule are discussions on issues including:
- Energy policy
- Water Policy
- Climate Change
- Hydropower development and financing models
Also included are pre- and post-Congress networking tours, which will focus on Sarawak’s hydropower development and some of Malaysia’s foremost natural and tourist attractions.
The IHA World Congress also features a showcase called “Innovation in Sustainability”, which will offer visitors an opportunity to view practical demonstrations from industry leaders.
