Iran’s Ministry of Interior seeks expressions of interest from consultants to study watershed management in the Haji-arab and Kharrud basins of Qazvin Region. Responses are due August 9.
Iran received a World Bank loan for earthquake emergency recovery from which it intends to finance the study of the basins. Haji-arab (Balakhanloo) Basin comprises 63,000 hectares and Kharrud (Nohob) Basin comprises 400,000 hectares.
o Phase 1: Feasibility study of watershed management, based on area maps, to recognize specifications of watershed resources; evaluate problems, limitations, and potentials of the watersheds; and determine sensitive or critical areas for watershed management planning; and
o Phase 2: Detail design of related watershed projects, based on maps, to scrutinize Phase 1 results; carry out detailed design of biological, biomechanical, and mechanical operations in sensitive and critical areas; prepare and present contract drawing and executive directions; perform technical and economic evaluations; and integrate client’s recommendation in Phase 2 study reports and drawings.
