Ireland small hydro operator seeks turbine replacement at 132-kW Bruree

Small hydro operator Bruree Hydro seeks bids to replace turbine-generators of the 132-kW Bruree hydroelectric project on Ireland’s Limerick River. Bids are due June 3.

Bruree Hydro seeks supply of a new turbine-generator package to replace the small hydro project’s three units, increasing capacity to 140 kW to supply the national grid. Ireland has about 50 small hydro projects on line. The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland seeks to promote small hydro along with ocean energy and other renewables.

Bruree Hydro seeks bids to supply a new 140-kW turbine-generator package, an emergency shutoff device, and a hydraulic actuator. The work is valued at 200,000 euros (US$257,440).
