Izhorskiye Zavody manufactures hydro generator stator shells for hydropower plants in Russia

Izhorskiye Zavody, part of OMZ Group, has manufactured two hydro generator stator shells for Russia’s Boguchanskaya and Sayano-Shushenskaya hydropower plants, wire reports indicate.

Each stator shell weighs approximately 100 tons, with a diameter of about 15 meters and a height of about 4 meters, according to reports.

The corresponding contract was signed with OAO Silovye Mashiny in December 2009, reports indicate. According to the terms of the contract, Izhorskiye Zavody will manufacture 6 stator shells for the hydro plants: 3 for Siberia’s Sayano-Shushenskaya power plant and 3 for the Boguchanskaya power plant.

The latest shipment includes the first stator shell for the 3,000-MW Boguchanskaya power plant and the second shell for Sayano-Shushenskaya power plant (the first one was shipped in April 2010).

The contract, to be completed in January 2011, also includes manufacturing of rotor frames, upper brackets and other equipment.
