Kenyan generating company awards Andritz contract for hydro project upgrade and rehabilitation

The Kenya Electricity Generating Company awarded a contract to Austria-based Andritz Hydro to install a third 24-MWturbine and overhaul two others at the utility’s Kindaruma Dam. 

The US$52 million contract entails rehabilitation of the two existing turbine generator units and the installation of the third one, which will boost the output of the power station from 40 MW to 72 MW, wire services reported. 

The Kindaruma Power Station is located northeast of Nairobi on the River Tana.
