Laos agency to manage watershed of 1,070-MW Nam Theun 2

Nam Theun 2 Power Co. (NTPC) has awarded a US$1.5 million contract for watershed management services for the 1,070-MW Nam Theun 2 hydroelectric project being built in Laos.

With funding from the World Bank, NTPC awarded the consulting services contract to Laos’ Watershed Management and Protection Authority.

NTPC is a hydro development venture of EDF International, Italian-Thai Development, Electricity Generating Plc. of Thailand, and Laos government-owned Electricite du Laos, formed to develop the hydro project on Laos’ Nam Theun River. (HNN 7/26/06)
