Macedonia seeks firms to construct Konsko Dam, hydro project

The Macedonia government invites applications for pre-qualification to construct Konsko Dam, which is to include a hydroelectric project, on Macedonia’s Konsko River at Gevgelija. Responses are due February 19.

Utility AD Elektrarni na Makedonija already seeks bids by March 31 to construct the 70-MW Boskov Most hydroelectric project on the Mala Reka River. The Ministry of Economy took bids in 2012 for a pre-feasibility study of multi-purpose utilization of the Vardar River, including hydropower. It also estimated investments of more than US$53 million will help pay for 21 new small hydropower plants in Macedonia.

In the current solicitation, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy invites pre-qualification to construct Konsko Dam. The project is to provide water supply for consumption and irrigation as well as a hydropower project expected to generate 29,400 MWh annually.

Solicitation documents may be obtained from the address below or from the procurement Internet site, listed as No. 26-22646/2013. The ministry expects to compile a short-list of about five firms for invitations to bid.

Responses are due by noon February 19. For information, contact Bojan Durnev and Aleksandar Sapundziovski, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Aminta III No. 2, 1000 Skopje, FYR Macedonia; Tel/Fax: (389) 23298162; E-mail:,,; Internet:
