Madagascar seeks new fourth unit for 58-MW Andekaleka

Madagascar’s national utility invites applications for pre-qualification to supply a new fourth turbine-generator for the 58-MW Andekaleka hydroelectric project. Responses are due November 19.

The government has requested a loan from the European Investment Bank to finance installation of the fourth generating unit. It previously solicited rehabilitation work at the project under a US$10 million credit from the World Bank’s International Development Association to help rebuild the ailing utility, Jiro Sy Rano Malagasy (Jirama). Jirama seeks supply and installation of a 33.2-MW turbine designed for a head of 214.5 meters, 138-kilovolt electrical equipment including transformer, and a trash rake.

Pre-qualification documents will be sent by e-mail in electronic pdf format from the first address below upon written request and demonstration of interest. Bids are to be submitted by 4 p.m. November 19 in sealed envelope to the second address below.
