Manitoba Hydro seeks refurbishment of turbine-generator at 88-MW Pine Falls hydro project

Canadian utility Manitoba Hydro seeks bids for mechanical work to refurbish a turbine-generator at the 88-MW Pine Falls hydroelectric project on the Winnipeg River in Canada’s Manitoba Province. A meeting and site visit are scheduled May 19-20 with bids due June 12.

Manitoba Hydro issued a similar solicitation in 2013 for overhaul and refurbishing of turbine-generators and associated mechanical systems at Pine Falls. It recruited environmental consulting services in 2011 to study its Winnipeg River hydroelectric projects including Pine Falls. Completed in 1952, Pine Falls has six turbine-generators.

The Canadian utility now seeks bids for mechanical services for disassembly, refurbishment of components and reassembly of turbine-generator Unit 1.

The solicitation may be obtained from the Canadian Public Tenders Internet site under A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m., Central time, May 19 followed by a mandatory site visit at 10:30 a.m., Central time, May 20. Questions may be submitted through June 5.
