Massachusetts seeks consultants for hydropower project evaluations

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center seeks proposals from consultants to help evaluate funding applications for hydropower project development or upgrade. Proposals are due Feb. 20.

MassCEC grants funding to proposed hydropower projects under the Commonwealth Hydropower Initiative of MassCEC’s Renewable Energy Trust Fund. The trust fund is financed by renewable energy charges on electric bills, generating roughly $24 million a year to support renewable energy installations and companies throughout Massachusetts.

MassCEC seeks consultants to help with areas of evaluation including the technical approach of the proposed projects, confirmation of applicants’ energy generation estimates, and confirmation that the proposed budgets are reasonable and consistent with the competitive procurement of materials and services. The work is budgeted at $25,000.

The request for proposals and other details may be obtained from the agency Internet site under http://masscec.com/index.cfm/cdid/14610/pid/11161. Questions may be submitted through Feb. 12 by e-mail to abarad@masscec.com labeled “RFP for Hydro Technical Consultant.”
