Mexico to advance carbon financing program

A Mexican center for energy and environmental studies plans to recruit consultants to set up a carbon credits financing program for clean energy projects.

The Mario Molina Center for Strategic Studies of Energy and the Environment has received US$350,000 from the World Bank to hire consultants for the program.

Work is to include developing qualifications for projects, identifying potential financiers, providing technical assistance, developing a portfolio of potential projects, and establishing four pilot projects for carbon credits financing.

The center plans to publish specific requests for international bids as they become available.
