Morocco seeks construction of 45-MW M’dez, 125-MW El Menzel hydropower projects

Morocco’s electric utility invites applications for pre-qualification for turnkey construction of the 45-MW M’dez and 125-MW El Menzel hydropower projects on Morocco’s Sebou River. Responses to separate solicitations are due May 31.

The Office National de ‘lElectricite (ONE) is developing M’dez and El Menzel, along with the 412-MW Abdelmoumen pumped-storage project, under the Integrated Program of Wind, Hydropower, and Rural Electrification. With funding from the African Development Bank, ONE plans to develop the M’dez-El Menzel complex as the centerpiece of development on the upper Sebou with a reservoir of 700 million cubic meters for flood control, irrigation, and power generation.

In separate solicitations, ONE seeks to pre-qualify turnkey contractors for implementation studies, completion of civil works, supply of materials and equipment, transportation, installation, testing, and commissioning of each hydroelectric project.

Pre-qualification documents may be obtained for M’dez (Pre-qualification No. SP 40 318) or El Menzel (Pre-qualification No. SP 40 317) from the ONE Internet site,, or from the address below.

Applications for pre-qualification are due to the address below by 9:30 a.m. May 31. They are to be labeled “Candidature de Prequalification pour le projet de l’usine hydroelectrique de M’dez No. SP 40 318” or “… d’El Menzel No. SP 40 317.”
