New replacement stoplog bid date for U.S. Demopolis Lock and Dam

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has extended the deadline for bids to supply seven lock stoplogs and two pickup beams for Demopolis Lock and Dam on the Tombigbee River in Alabama. Bids now are due May 13.

The Corps previously called for bids by April 29. (HydroWorld 4/5/10) Although the Corps navigation project has no hydropower generation, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has issued a preliminary permit (No. 13102) to Birch Power Co. (HydroWorld 1/10/08) to study developing the 23.7-MW Demopolis hydroelectric project at the site.

The Corps’ Mobile District seeks five regular stoplogs weighing 60,826 pounds each and two special stoplogs weighing 68,700 pounds each. The two pickup beams weigh 27,000 pounds each.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W9127810R0066 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.
