Marine and hydrokinetic energy taking center stage at new event

The inaugural International Marine Renewable Energy Conference (IMREC) and third-annual Marine Energy Technology Symposium (METS) will take place this April in Washington, D.C., bringing together industry leaders and policy-makers from around the world.

The events will be held simultaneously with the National Hydropower Association Annual Conference and are presented by NHA’s new Marine Energy Council, which was announced in December to spur domestic marine and hydrokinetic growth.

With the MHK sector expanding both in the United States and abroad, the IMREC and METS events offer attendees an invaluable opportunity for water power technology professionals, policy makers, non-governmental organizations, academia, consultants, component suppliers and service professionals to learn about the full spectrum of issues facing this emerging field.

“Bringing the conventional and marine energy industries together under one roof provides benefits to both as we collectively advocate the importance of all hydropower technologies as solutions to our nation’s energy challenges,” NHA Executive Director Linda Church Ciocci said.

IMREC and METS combine to connect a diverse group of industry leaders from all areas of the marine and hydrokinetic sector. Topics to be discussed at the co-located event include not only regulatory and policy issues, but also technological development, opportunities for market growth, distribution systems and collaborative efforts.

The NHA Annual Conference, IMREC and METS take place April 27-29 at the Capital Hilton.
