Nicaragua seeks hydropower equipment for 820-kW Camaleona small hydro project

The government of Nicaragua seeks bids to supply hydropower equipment for the 820-kW Camaleona small hydro project in Nicaragua’s Jinotega Department. Requests for information are due by November 13, with bids due November 28.

Nicaragua recruited consultants in May to help select 15 small hydro sites of 100 kW to 1 MW and develop pre-feasibility studies for the projects. It also recruited consultants in 2012 to assess small hydro potential in two Nicaragua river basins.

The current solicitation is funded under an off-grid small hydropower program of the United Nations Development Program, which also funded the 300-kW La Florida hydro project that opened in Nicaragua last year.

The Ministerio de Energia y Minas seeks bids to supply two Pelton turbine-generators, valves, governors, transformers, controls, and related equipment for Camaleona, to be built in San Jose de Bocay, 240 kilometers from Managua.
