Nicaraguan ministry gives provisional licenses for three small hydro plants

Nicaragua’s Ministry of Energy and Mines has granted provisional licenses for three small hydropower projects, HydroWorld.com has learned.

Included are the 3.3-MW El Mono and 4.3-MW La Colombiana in Jinotega department, and the 8.7-MW Santa Elisa in Matagalpa.

The projects are being developed by Hidroenergy de Nicaragua, which filed its license requests for the small hydropower projects in August 2012. The company now has 24 months to carry out its technical, economic and environmental reports.
