Niger seeks consultants for power sector reviews

The government of Niger seeks expressions of interest by June 12 from consultants to prepare tenders for review of electric utility investment plans and a power sector performance evaluation.

In one solicitation, Niger seeks consultants to provide technical assistance in launching an invitation to tender for review of the investment plan of utility NIGELEC. Services are to include proposing and prioritizing specific investments from 2006-2015.

A particular emphasis will be on major new investments or rehabilitation of hydroelectric and thermal power plants, as well as transmission and distribution systems.

In the other solicitation, the government seeks consultants to provide technical assistance in preparing an invitation to tender for a performance evaluation of the electricity subsector in Niger, with proposals for an action plan. Services will include proposing and prioritizing actions to improve framework policies of the power sector, to reduce cost, improve quality, and increase accessibility of electric service.
