Niger seeks environmental, social plan for valley of 125-MW Kandadji

The government of Niger invites expressions of interest from consultants to help implement an environmental and social management plan in the area of the proposed 125-MW Kandadji Dam on the Niger River. Responses are due September 17.

The African Development Bank Group agreed to help finance the Kandadji Ecosystems Regeneration and Niger Valley Development Program, which includes construction of Kandadji Dam. Niger recruited consultants to update the environmental and social management plan in 2009. Niger Basin Authority also recruited consultants in May to study coordinated management of dams in the Niger River Basin.

The government seeks consultants to provide technical assistance to analyze technical activities involved in implementing the environmental and social management plan, and to improve operating of the Kandadji Ecosystems Regeneration and Niger Valley Development Program.
