Nigeria seeks engineering for rehabilitation of 760-MW Kainji

Power Holding Co. of Nigeria (PHCN) seeks expressions of interest from consultants to review and update technical specifications for rehabilitation of the 760-MW Kainji hydroelectric project on the Niger River. Responses are due July 16.

Nigeria has applied for funding for the work from the World Bank’s International Development Association. Last year, the bank sought consultants for work including safety, environmental, and social audits of Kainji and the 540-MW Jebba project.

In the current solicitation, PHCN seeks a consultant to review and update technical specifications that were prepared by Coyne et Bellier for rehabilitation of Kainji’s main electro-mechanical equipment including Units 5-12, as well as auxiliary mechanical and electrical equipment, and other principal equipment and systems. The consultant also would prepare detailed specifications, assist in preparing bid documents, prepare price schedules, and participate in pre-bidding activity.
