Nigeria seeks management for rehabilitation of 760-MW Kainji

Power Holding Co. of Nigeria (PHCN) seeks expressions of interest in project management and engineering supervision for rehabilitation of the 760-MW Kainji hydroelectric project on the Niger River. Responses are due August 31.

The World Bank approved a US$500 million credit July 3 to develop Niger Basin water resources, including aid to rehabilitate the 760-MW Kainji and 540-MW Jebba hydroelectric projects. (HNN 7/5/07) Earlier this month, PHCN recruited consultants to review and update technical specifications for Kainji rehabilitation.

In the current solicitation, PHCN seeks project management and engineering supervision for the rehabilitation. The winning consultant would: support PHCN on all pre-contract award activities; provide project management and control including coordination, supervision, and site management; supervise performance of the contractor handling the contract; supervise installation of equipment up to commissioning; and train PHCN staff.
