Norcan wins Bracebridge Hydro contract

Norcan Hydraulic Turbine Inc. has been awarded a contract to supply and install turbines and generators for Bracebridge Generation in Bracebridge, Ontario.

The 2.7 and 3.0 megawatt, 2,100 mm dt “S” type Kaplan turbines will be designed and manufactured by Norcan. Norcan will also supply the generators manufactured by Ideal electric.

Project engineers for the project are the IBI Group. Commissioning is expected in 2011.

Recently, Norcan completed commissioning of an 800 kilowatt hydro project in South River, Ontario. Norcan was contracted for the supply of both turbine and generator.
