Norway firm seeks generator to expand 19-MW Vittingfoss

HONEFOSS, Norway 4/11/12 (PennWell) — Norway generator Ringeriks-Kraft Produksjon AS invites applications for pre-qualification to supply a generator for expansion of the 19-MW Vittingfoss hydroelectric project. Responses are due April 20.

Ringeriks-Kraft issued a similar solicitation in 2011 for a generator as well as solicitations to pre-qualify to supply a turbine and to construct a new powerhouse at Vittingfoss.

The firm has a site license to add a new Unit 5 of between 8 and 16 MW at the run-of-river plant in Buskerud County. It said it plans a new surface powerhouse for an expansion at the side of the existing powerhouse.

The firm now seeks a three-phase 50-Hz generator to be directly run by a vertical Kaplan turbine. The generator’s total capacity is to be 17 megavolt-amperes, with synchronous rotational speed of 187.5 rpm. That contract’s estimated value is between 18 million and 25 million kroner (US$3 million and US$4.3 million).

Solicitation documents may be obtained until April 20 from the address below. To register interest and to obtain further information, visit the Doffin Web Site at

Applications for pre-qualification in English or Norwegian are due by noon April 20. Ringeriks-Kraft plans to name a short-list of firms to be invited to bid for all three contracts about April 27.
