Norway operator seeks trash rake, transformers, switchgear for 30-MW Ramfoss hydro project

Norwegian hydro operator Ramfoss Kraftlag invites applications for pre-qualification to supply a trash rake and transformers, switchgear and controls for the 30-MW Ramfoss hydroelectric project in Norway. Responses to two solicitations are due August 4.

Commissioned in 1961 on the Snarumselva River, Ramfoss is among a number of projects slated for refurbishment in Norway. Norway utility Statkraft announced in February plans to invest nearly US$2 billion to upgrade its hydro fleet. Lyse Produksjon AS awarded a contract to Andritz Hydro in March to equip the 370-MW Lysebotn 2 hydro project.

In one solicitation, Ramfoss Kraftlag invites applications for pre-qualification in Norwegian for a new 38-meter-wide trashrack cleaner including installation and adaptation to existing installations. The work, valued at 2 million to 3.5 million kroner (US$325,202 to US$568,960), is to begin in October and be completed in April 2015.

Solicitation documents may be obtained from Norway’s procurement Internet site under https://kgv.doffin.no/ctm/Supplier/Documents/Folder/119259. Ramfoss Kraftlag plans to short list between two and four firms to receive invitations to bid on August 11.

In a second solicitation, Ramfoss Kraftlag invites applications for pre-qualification in Norwegian to supply transformers, switchgear and control systems for a new transformer station at Ramfoss. The work, valued at 15 million to 25 million kroner (US$2.4 million to US$4 million), is to begin in January 2015 and be completed in July 2016.

Solicitation documents may be obtained from Norway’s procurement Internet site under https://kgv.doffin.no/ctm/Supplier/Documents/Folder/119184. Ramfoss Kraftlag plans to short list between three and five firms to receive invitations to bid on August 11.
