Norway utility awards turbine, transformer contracts for 4.2-MW Solbjorn

SVOLVAER, Norway 10/14/11 (PennWell) — Norway utility Lofotkraft Produksjon AS has awarded contracts for a replacement turbine and a transformer for the 4.2-MW Solbjorn hydroelectric project at Moinarodden, Norway.

Lofotkraft took bids for two separate contracts in April and June.

Rainpower Small Hydro of Kjeller, Norway, received a contract valued at 3.28 million kroner (US$582,792) to supply a 5-MW turbine, governor, and control plan for Solbjorn, which was built in 1956. There were two bids received for the work.

Teksal Hineco As received a contract valued at 4.25 million kroner (US$755,289) to supply a power transformer, apparatus, and control plant for Solbjorn. There were three bids received for the work.
