Norway water, energy agency seeks dam safety consultants

The Norwegian water resources and energy directorate seeks bids from firms to provide dam safety and security consultancy under framework agreements with the agency. Bids are due September 29.

The directorate, Norges Vassdrags- og Energidirektorat (NVE), supervises 3,775 dams and 1,539 waterways owned by 868 entities. Norway’s petroleum and energy ministry took bids last year to evaluate NVE’s program to assure dam safety in Norway. The number of small hydro projects in Norway is increasing, with more than 800 operating and more than 700 being studied.

NVE intends to enter four separate four-year framework agreements with consultants to provide services related to four lots: dam safety acute events within 12 hours; independent inspections within two months; assistance with non-acute events including security evaluations, flood calculations, and construction tendering and management; and assistance with closing river system installations.

NVE is to conduct tendering using the Mercell Sourcing Service. Those seeking to register interest and obtain tender documents are to utilize the Mercell Internet site under http://permalink.mercell.com/46248905.aspx.

Bids, in Norwegian, are due by noon September 29. For information, contact Astrid Sollie Skardalsmo, Norges Vassdrags- og Energidirektorat (NVE), Middelthunsgate 29, 0368 Oslo, Norway; (47) 22959017; E-mail: asss@nve.no.
