Norway’s Veidekke to build 9-MW Reinskar

Sjofossen Energi AS has awarded a contract to Norwegian builder Veidekke Entreprenor AS to build the 9-MW Reinskar hydroelectric project at Sundsfjord in Nordland, Norway.

The 92 million kroner (US$14.5 million) contract includes renovation of the rockfill Storvatnet Dam, construction of a 3.2-kilometer tunnel, gate shaft, and power station.

Sjofossen Energi’s tender for the work, issued last year, also included supply of a turbine-generator, main stop valve, governor, transformer, high-voltage switchgear, controls, and auxiliaries. Reinskar is to have a maximum flow of 10 cms and a head of 120 meters.

Veidekke Entreprenor, a subsidiary of Norwegian construction group Veidekke ASA, said work is to begin this month and be complete by December 2008.
