The International Centre for Small Hydropower is preparing an updated World Small Hydropower Development Report for 2016 and is seeking contributors.
The aim of this report is to provide up-to-date information on small hydropower (capacity up to 10 MW) for policy makers and practitioners in order to advance development of this technology. It includes contributions by reputable institutions and experts from various countries in a joint effort to report on the global status of small hydropower.
ICSHP is seeking authors for country reports, as well as case studies of innovative small hydropower projects.
ICSHP is a public and non-profit institution directly under the auspices of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and China’s Ministry of Water Resources.
The center coordinated with UNIDO to prepare the first such report in 2013. The 466-page document indicated global small hydro potential of almost 173 MW, with 65% of the potential was in Asia, with 16% in Europe, 13% in Americas, 5%in Africa and 1% in Oceania.
The 2013 report was based on contributions from more than 60 authors and organizations. It contained 20 regional overviews and 149 country-level reports.
