Outlet rehab sought for Norway’s 12.5-MW Viulfoss

Hydro operator Viul Kraft AS invites applications for pre-qualification to refurbish inoperable roller-gate bottom outlets at the 12.5-MW Viulfoss hydroelectric project at Ringerike, Norway. Responses are due January 5, 2009.

Viul Kraft said cracks have been found in the concrete by the bottom outlets at Viulfoss, built in 1958, and that the gate does not work. Work is to consist of draining and setting barriers; renovation and improvements to the bottom outlets with gates, grates, and concrete; and a new hydraulic gate hoist with a joint aggregate for both gates.

Viul Kraft said it will use a negotiated procedure to select a contractor. Companies are to be pre-qualified on the basis of the number and relevance of contracts in the last five years, references, and turnover within the waterpower sector of the company.

Solicitation documents may be obtained from the address below. A buyer profile can be obtained from the Internet at www.doffin.no/search/Search_AuthProfile.aspx?ID=AA4442.

Applications for pre-qualification, in Norwegian, are due by noon January 5, 2009. For information, contact Alexander G. Fossgard, Viul Kraft AS, Serviceboks 22, N-3504 Honefoss, Norway; (47) 32-119531; E-mail: alexander.fossgard@rik.no.
