Pakistan seeks management consultant for construction of 150-kW Ghabir Dam

Pakistan’s Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) invites expressions of interest for management consultant services for the construction of 150-kW Ghabir Dam on Pakistan’s Ghabir River. Responses are due September 18.

Pakistan has numerous water resources and hydropower projects in development. Recent activity by WAPDA includes completion of the 22-MW Jabban hydropower project and financing from China for the 969-MW Neelum Jhelum project.

Ghabir Dam primarily is an irrigation project in Chakwal District of Punjab State featuring a 138-foot-tall, 3,117-foot-long earth core rockfill dam.

WAPDA seeks management consultants registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council to oversee development of the project on an engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) basis. Consultants are to oversee civil construction and installation of hydraulic steel works including gates and miscellaneous equipment. The work is expected to require 42 months plus a 24-month defect liability period.

Expression of interest documents may be obtained from the address below for 2,000 rupees (US$19.28), payable by bank draft or pay order to General Manager (Central) Water. WAPDA plans to short-list firms for an invitation to bid.

Expressions of interest are due September 18. For information, contact General Manager (Central) Water, Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), 3 Canal Bank, Mughalpura, Lahore, Pakistan; (92) 42-99250387; Fax: (92) 42-99250389; E-mail: gmcwater@yahoo.com; Internet: www.wapda.gov.pk.
