Pakistan seeks transformers for switchyard units of 3,480-MW Tarbela hydro project

Pakistan’s Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) seeks bids to supply capacitance-coupled voltage transformers (CCVT) for switchyard Units 11-14 of the 3,480-MW Tarbela hydroelectric project on the Indus River. Bids are due November 27.

WAPDA has been repairing and upgrading Tarbela. It called for bids in September to supply screw-type compressors along with an air receiver tank for controlling a power swing phenomenon, a variation in power flow, of hydropower turbines in the Tarbela hydro plant.

The agency also has been recruiting firms for project preparation and design of the 1,300-MW Tarbela Dam 5th Extension hydro project. WAPDA awarded a contract in February to Voith Hydro of Germany and Voith Hydro Shanghai to supply electro-mechanical works for the 1,410-MW Tarbela Dam 4th Extension hydropower project.

WAPDA now seeks bids for procurement of 500-kilovolt CCVT for switchyard Units 11-14 of the Tarbela power station.

Tender documents may be obtained until noon November 26 from the addresses below for 1,000 rupees (US$10) submitted by pay order or bank draft to Manager Finance (Hydel), WAPDA Lahore, payable at M/s Habib Bank Ltd., Gardee Square Branch, Lahore, Account No. 1030-59 or Chief Engineer (Power), WAPDA, Tarbela Dam, payable at M/s Habib Bank Ltd., G.I.K.I.
