Panama invites competitors for four hydro concession requests

A Panama regulator received applications for hydropower concessions for four projects totaling 84.3 MW and invites competitors to file applications.

In a June 27 notice, Autoridad Nacional de los Servicios Publicos (ASEP) said it would give competitors ten days from publication of its notice in newspapers in order to file competing applications.

Developers filing the concession requests and their proposed projects are:
o Panama Power Energy Inc., 19.5-MW Lalin 1, Gatu River at El Penon, Los Hatillos, and San Francisco in Veraguas Province;
o Panama Energy Finance Inc., 38.6-MW Lalin 2, Gatu River at La Yeguada and Calobre in Veraguas;
o Panama Energy Business Inc., 25.4-MW Lalin 3, Gatu River at Chitra y Gatuncillo, Calobre, and Santa Fe in Veraguas; and
o G.O. Power S.A., 821-kW Brazuelo, Brazuelo River at Portobelo in Colon Province.
