Peru names transaction adviser for 530-MW Majes-Siguas

Peru’s investment agency, ProInversion, has named Latin Pacific Capital S.A. to serve as transaction adviser to assist in concession tendering for a portion of the 530-MW Majes-Siguas 2 irrigation and hydroelectric complex.

The Lima-based firm was chosen in international tendering for a consultant to develop the project’s financial structure and to promote the project. The announcement was made January 15, following a declaration by the Ministry of Energy and Finance that the project is technically and economically feasible. A contract is to be signed January 21, ProInversion said.

Latin Pacific Capital is to carry out complementary work to that of the project’s technical adviser Lahmeyer Agua y Energia.

Majes-Siguas 2 is the second stage of the Majes project, which began with construction of Condoroma Dam more than a decade ago. It includes construction of Angostura Dam and a 16-kilometer water tunnel, irrigation infrastructure, and construction of the 98-MW Tarucani, 116-MW Lluta, and 316-MW Lluclla hydroelectric plants on the Siguas River.
