Portugal firm seeks small hydro suppliers, builders

Portugal’s Hidroelectrica Lda. (HDR) invites applications for pre-qualification from prospective suppliers and builders of small hydroelectric projects. Responses are due in early November.

HDR seeks to develop a list of qualified equipment suppliers and construction companies from which it can select firms for negotiated contracts. Work would be performed on behalf of Portuguese companies of Grupo Hydrocontracting Internacional GmbH.

HDR seeks firms specializing in: civil construction; excavation; tunnel construction; supply and installation of electrical equipment, transformers, and automation; transmission interconnections; and supply and installation of pressure conduit and hydro-mechanical equipment.

Detailed information on qualification requirements, the Programa do Sistema de Qualificacao, may be obtained from the address below for 50 euros (US$63.75). The qualification system will be in effect through September 2009.

Applications for pre-qualification must be submitted by the 39th day after publication of HDR’s solicitation, an estimated deadline of Nov. 6.
