A unit of Portugal utility Energias de Portugal (EDP) seeks bids to supply a turbine-generator and other equipment for the 13.3-MW Central 2 do Escalao de Pedrogao hydroelectric project. Bids are due October 15.
Pedrogao 2 is a new hydroelectric development of the Alqueva multi-purpose project on Portugal’s Guadiana River.
EDP won a 35-year concession in 2007 to operate the 259.2-MW Alqueva and 10-MW Pedrogao projects, both on the Guadiana. At that time it said it would repower and expand the plants. EDP awarded a contract in 2008 to a consortium led by Alstom Hydro for turbine-generators and other equipment for the new 260-MW Alqueva 2 pumped-storage project.
For Pedrogao 2, EDP’s Empresa Hidroelectrica do Guadiana S.A. seeks bids for equipment including a Kaplan turbine and 15-megavolt-ampere generator to be installed on the intake of a pumping station owned by Empresa de Desenvolvimento e Infra-estruturas do Alqueva S.A., about 160 meters downstream from Pedrogao Dam.
Tender documents may be obtained from the address below for 2,500 euros (US$3,267) in cash or check to EDP – Gestao da Producao de Energia S.A. Documents will be supplied in digital format.
Bids in Portuguese are due by 5 p.m. October 15.
