Reclamation awards contract for Grand Coulee Dam concrete work, rehabilitations

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has awarded a US$886,654 contract to Abriss Corp., Inc. to construct a transformer containment basin for the Third Power Plant at the 6,809-MW Grand Coulee Dam.

Reclamation most recently solicited bids for the work in May, which is to include saw cutting concrete and asphalt; removal and disposal of a catch basin and cooling drain; cutting, removing, and replacing a portion of reinforced pipe drain; excavation, backfill, and compacting; furnishing and installing a pre-cast concrete vault, an exhaust fan, a pre-manufactured catch basin assembly, cast-in-place curbing-slab-waterway, 2-inch grating, asphalt surfacing, and materials for the complete electrical system.

The Grand Coulee hydropower project is located on the Columbia River in Washington. Reclamation is currently beginning a major rehabilitation of the 4,485-MW Third Power Plant.
