Regulators okay test operations for Brazil small hydro projects

Brazilian utility sector regulator Aneel has authorized test operations at the 11.4-MW Areia small hydro project, according to wire reports.

The plant is owned by local firm Areia Energia. The facility is located in the northern state of Tocantins.

The small hydro project will be able to operate commercially after test results are submitted, Business News Americas reported.

Regulators also have authorized test operations at one generator unit at the 10-MW Caju small hydro project.

The plant is owned by local power company Energisa. It is located in the southeastern state of Rio de Janeiro.
