RusHydro, PowerChina partner for small hydropower development

Energy conglomerates JSC RusHydro and PowerChina have signed a number of agreements calling for cooperation in developing small hydropower projects in Russia’s Far East.

The documents, signed during an official visit by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin during a recent visit to Shanghai, stipulate that PowerChina could receive a number of engineering, procurement and construction contracts for the proposed hydroelectric plants.

The agreement also calls for JSC RusHydro (LSE: HYDR) and PowerChina to form a working group that will develop a more detailed plan, including the selection of potential projects.

HydroWorld.com reported earlier this month that RusHydro had signed an agreement with tidal energy developer Atlantis Operations Ltd. to develop joint projects in Australia.
