Russian supplier forms venture with Vietnam firm

Russian hydro equipment manufacturer Power Machines has formed a joint venture with Agrimeco Corp. of Vietnam to manufacture equipment in Vietnam.

Power Machines said it signed an agreement with the Agriculture &Irrigation Mechanization Electrification Construction Corp. to build an US$80 million manufacturing complex in Hung Yen Province.

The plant is to produce turbine-generator equipment of up to 150 MW and other components. Output is to reach 10 or 11 units per year, Power Machines said. The venture is to supply customers in Russia, Vietnam, and elsewhere in Southeast Asia.

Earlier this year, Agrimeco and German-based Bosch Rexroth signed an agreement for a joint venture to manufacture hydraulic cylinders in Vietnam using Bosch Rexroth technology. The venture is to supply hydraulic equipment to the 250-MW Ba Ha hydroelectric project currently under construction on the Ba Ha River in Vietnam’s Phu Yen Province. (HNN 5/3/06)
