Russia’s RusHydro seeks turbines for 2,300-MW Zhigulevskaya

Russian hydropower generator OJS RusHydro invites applications for pre-qualification to replace two turbine-generators at the 2,300-MW Zhigulevskaya hydroelectric project on the Volga River. Responses are due September 12.

With 6.3 billion rubles (US$233.5 million) in funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, RusHydro, the former HydroOGK, plans to seek bids for turbine-generators and switchgear for rehabilitation of plants in the 10,000-MW Volga-Kama hydropower cascade, including Zhigulevskaya. Under the program, the utility recently awarded a contract to Russian equipment supplier Power Machines to supply two replacement turbine-generators for the 1,360-MW Saratovskaya hydroelectric project. (HNN 7/2/08)

In the current solicitation, the tender organizer, CJSC Energoservis-Konkurs, seeks to pre-qualify bidders to supply replacement vertical Kaplan turbine-generators for Units 4 and 19 of Zhigulevskaya. The contract is to include auxiliary equipment. Work is scheduled on Unit 4 between July 2010 and June 2011, while Unit 19 work is scheduled between January and December 2011.
