Sabella, H&WB to develop 5 MW tidal power plant in Philippines

French marine energy company Sabella SAS and Filipino developer H&WB Asia Pacific have signed a memorandum of agreement to establish a 5 MW tidal power project in the Philippines.

The plant is a proof-of-concept project and a first for the country, according to the developers, who also hold additional rights to ocean energy service contracts in the San Bernardino, Santa Ana and Capul regions.

The pilot project will be located in the San Bernardino Strait near Matnog, with power generated to be supplied to the Sorgoson Electric Cooperative I and II.
