SCADA system upgrade sought by Honduras hydro utility

Honduran hydropower utility Empresa Nacional de Energia Electrica (ENEE) invites applications for pre-qualification to replace the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system that controls its dispatch center and power plants. Bids are due June 18.

ENEE owns hydroelectric projects totaling 464.4 MW and thermal plants totaling 64.4 MW. It also has awarded contracts to build the 97-MW Los Llanitos, 172-MW Jicatuyo (HydroWorld 2/5/09), and 100-MW Patuca 3 hydro projects. (HydroWorld 6/19/08) It also is studying the 124-MW Los Chorros hydro project. (HydroWorld 12/31/08) The utility also is pursuing a series of small hydro projects. (HydroWorld 1/11/08)

In the current solicitation, ENEE seeks to replace its current SCADA/energy management system (EMS) because it is outdated and does not fully meet requirements of national and regional regulation or the needs of its users to solve problems in the analytical framework and evolution of ENEE technical systems.

Work is to include engineering design, development, implementation, installation, testing, and commissioning of the SCADA/EMS in ENEE’s national dispatch center, substations, and power plants.

Pre-qualification documents, in Spanish, may be obtained from the address below. Bids are due by 2 p.m. June 18.
