Scate Automation SAS wins bid for 9-MW Naussac hydropower plant control overhaul

Scate Automation SAS has been awarded a US$711,243 contract to modernize the command control system at the 9-MW Naussac hydropower plant in France’s Loire River Basin.

The small hydroelectric project’s owner, Etablissement Public Loire (EPL) solicited bids for the work in August.

The plant is used to prevent excessive seasonal flow variations in the Loire. When there is an excess of water in the tributary Allier River, the project’s generating units are used as pumps.

EPL said the new command control system is intended to facilitate operation of the dam by non-automation engineers, and must be reliable and user-friendly.
