Scottish micro hydro proposal receives approval without objection

A 250 kW micro hydro project at Scotland’s Atholl Estates has been approved by local authorities, according to Atmos Consulting.

Atmos Consulting — a group specializing in technical, environmental and planning support for renewable energy projects — said the application it prepared was approved without objection.

The application included habitat survey and other specialized reports on fish habitat, otters, water vole, wildcat, badger and bats, as well as specific topics like cultural heritage, transport and landscape.

The new run-of-river project will be Atholl Estate’s third. The property dates to the 13th Century.
