Senegal River agency seeks consultants

In separate solicitations, the multi-nation Senegal River management agency invites expressions of interest from consultants and job applications from specific experts to carry out integrated management of the Senegal River Basin. Responses to both are due August 28.

The World Bank and other donors have provided more than US$100 million for the program to Senegal, Guinea, Mali, and Mauritania, which comprise the river management agency, Organisation pour la Mise en Valeur du Fleuve Senegal (OMVS). Under another program, the bank recently approved US$75 million in credits to Mali, Mauritania, and Senegal to finance construction of the 59-MW Felou hydroelectric project on the Senegal River in Mali.

In one of the current solicitations, OMVS seeks to recruit an office of technical assistance to support the regional project management cell and the individual national agencies to manage water and environment of the basin. Work is to include development of terms of reference, and follow-up to implement basin studies and other work.

Engineering and design consultants may obtain additional information and documents from the address below. Expressions of interest and qualifications, labeled “Projet de Gestion des Ressources en Eau et de l’Environnement du bassin du fleuve Senegal/Manifestation d’interet pour les services de l’assistance technique” are due to the address below by 10 a.m. August 28. OMVS seeks 10 experts to aid in basin management

OMVS also invited applications from candidates for 10 expert positions in integrated management of water resources and multiple uses of the Senegal basin.

It seeks to fill positions including experts in regional coordination, marketing, project assistance, financial administration, accounting, archiving, socio-economics, environment and natural resources management, traditional fishing, irrigated farming, and health.

Candidates are invited to submit dossiers by August 28 to the address below, labeled “Monsieur le Haut Commissaire de l’OMVS – Candidature pour le poste …” and indicating the position sought. Submissions are to include a handwritten envelope stamped with 100 Central French Africa francs (20 US cents), a detailed resume, a letter of application, copies of diplomas and certificates, two identity photographs, birth certificate, and certificate of registry.
