Senegal River agency seeks electric equipment study at Diama Dam

The multi-nation Senegal River management agency invites expressions of interest from consultants to study restoration of electrical and electronic equipment at Diama Dam. Responses are due July 31.

The Organisation pour la Mise en Valeur du Fleuve Senegal (OMVS), which includes Senegal, Guinea, Mali, and Mauritania, plans to restore electrical and electronic equipment and to automate control and measurement systems at Diama. In a separate solicitation, OMVS seeks restoration of cathodic protection equipment for submerged structures at Diama.

The dam, on the Senegal River in Senegal, is part of the Senegal River Basin Regional Hydropower Development Project overseen by OMVS. OMVS also seeks expressions of interest by August 11 for technical assistance to build the 59-MW Felou hydroelectric project on the Senegal River in Mali. (HNN 7/14/08)
