Supervisory geologist sought for Corps Nashville District

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks a supervisory geologist to serve in the Corps’ Nashville District office. Applications are due Jan. 6, 2011.

The Corps’ Nashville District is responsible for nine hydropower plants totaling 914 MW, 14 navigation projects, and 1,175 miles of commercial navigation channels. A 2008 assessment of equipment at nine Corps hydropower plants on the Cumberland River in Tennessee and Kentucky found a need for up to $470 million in repairs.

The Corps seeks a supervisory geologist to be responsible for technical oversight of all work of the district’s geology section. The full-time position has a salary between $81,823 and $106,369.
